ICE's actions of forcibly detaining a pregnant woman on the streets of Elgin, Illinois, in front of her child, demand immediate reforms to protect vulnerable individuals from such traumatic and unacceptable treatment. I urge you to require Illinois law enforcement agencies to block ICE agents from operating while masked and without judicial warrants. Pregnant women, children, and all residents deserve to feel safe in their communities, not live in constant fear of being unjustly targeted by unidentified federal agents lacking proper legal authority. We cannot allow these dehumanizing practices that violate civil liberties to continue unchecked. Swift legislative action is imperative to uphold human rights and prevent further abuses against our most vulnerable populations.
