DNC’s Strategy: Reaching Across the Aisle, Leaving Progressives Behind

To: Rep. Amodei, Sen. Rosen, Sen. Cortez Masto, Pres. Biden

From: A verified voter in Reno, NV

August 26

I want to share some thoughts that might not be widely held, and that’s perfectly fine—but I believe they warrant consideration. I find it commendable that the Democratic National Committee (DNC) chose not to allow a Palestinian perspective at their event. It seems they made a conscious decision to prioritize Republican and former Trump officials as speakers. They took a strong stance by removing every anti-genocide protester present and even went as far as ejecting Hasan Piker. I believe this approach sends a clear message: they don’t want or need votes from individuals like me. Vice President Kamala Harris appears focused on winning over Republican and moderate voters. I fully support this strategy. If the goal is to attract those demographics, then by all means, prioritize them. It’s clear that voices like mine, which might have considered supporting her for actions like an arms embargo or a permanent ceasefire, are not a priority. And I understand—perhaps that’s too much to ask. Given this, it’s evident that my vote, and the votes of those who share my views, are not necessary for the upcoming election. I’m not planning to vote for Donald Trump, and I won’t be voting for Kamala Harris either. This isn’t a situation where not voting for one candidate equates to voting for the other. I simply believe that if the DNC is confident in focusing on Republicans and moderates, they should pursue that strategy without needing to rely on our support. There’s no need for concern if others who think like me choose not to vote for her either. It’s clear that the DNC cares more about securing those moderate and Republican votes, and I trust they’ll succeed in doing so.
