Save Food Inspections and the FDA

To: Rep. Strong, Sen. Britt, Sen. Tuberville

From: A verified voter in Huntsville, AL

April 21

Over the weekend, the Press reported that the FDA is planning to end routine food inspections. This in unacceptable. Are we supposed to simply hope that our food is safe, take our chances that what we eat won’t sicken or even kill us? While “the Market” has a way of evening out over time, meaning that bad actors in the practice of selling unsafe products will eventually find their markets reduced for those items, we all must eat. Even you. And by the time we understand that the food we’ve eaten is unsafe, we may already be sick or even dead. You must stand up for the FDA, including reinstating fired staff, so that it has the personnel and the budget to continue its work toward food safety. What else is government for but to protect its citizens? Please take immediate action to retain the FDA’s food safety inspections.
