From: A constituent in Rockford, MI

July 31

Pass the Audit the Pentagon Act I am a voting constituent writing to urge you to prioritize and pass the bipartisan Audit the Pentagon Act, reintroduced by Senators Bernie Sanders and Chuck Grassley. Despite consuming over half of the federal discretionary budget and managing trillions of dollars in assets, the Department of Defense remains the only major federal agency that has never passed a clean financial audit. Decades of uncounted expenditures and fiscal mismanagement demonstrate a clear breakdown in government oversight. This legislation introduces necessary accountability by requiring each Defense Department component to pass an independent financial audit or face budget penalties, returning withheld funds directly to the Treasury for deficit reduction. Holding leadership to the same standard required of every other federal agency protects taxpayer dollars and restores public trust. Please co-sponsor and vote to pass the Audit the Pentagon Act immediately.
