The entire situation between the US, Israel and Iran is extremely concerning to me. The idea that Iran posed some sort of existential threat to the US is laughable. Israel, on the other hand, is close enough to Iran to believe it is a threat. Adding to this is the Zionist Israelis' desire to be the undisputed top dog in the Middle East. Despite the claims of alliance, politically the US acts like a client state to Israel, capitulating to the demands of the Israeli government for arms, military and economic support. If the US resists acquiescing, the Israelis haul out the "Holocaust" and "you're antisemitic" cards and threatens us with the world's disapproval until we cave. We aren't even allowed a say in how our money and munitions are used. Netanyahu is facing investigations by his own government into scandals and corruption involving him. His answer is to wind up the Israeli population, aim them at a country he says wants to destroy them and pull the trigger. Israel tends not to change its leadership during times of conflict when told they are going to war to protect themselves. Netanyahu found a gullible co-conspirator in Trump, also fighting accusations of heinous behavior. Trump needs a big distraction from the Epstein files. He's hoping military action will provide it, so he ignores Congress being the only branch of the government that can declare war and joins Israel in its vendetta against Iran. He's already acting against the Constitution and our federal laws, but he's not done yet. Trump and Hegseth are currently violating the 1st Amendment rights of nearly every member of our armed services. They are promoting the agenda of the Christian Nationalists and have declared the actions in Iran to be a "holy war" for the purpose of triggering their idea of the Christian concept of "Armageddon" to force the return of Jesus. This flies in the face of every member of the armed services who does not follow those religious beliefs in violation of the right to practice one's own religion without government control or coercion to believe and practice differently. This is the Executive Branch of the federal government unilaterally establishing their views as the "correct" religion. They are probably depending on the literal language of the 1st Amendment being "Congress shall make no law..." allowing some other part of the government to establish a state religion. I pray the Supreme Court won't fall for it. 1st Amendment rights make the orders to prosecute a "holy war" illegal for anyone who doesn't see it as "holy" from the vantage point of their own beliefs. Congress, the House and Senate, are charged in the Constitution to be the voices of reason and rein in the follies and excesses of the Executive Branch. This illegal "war" with Iran is both a folly and an excess. Put a stop to it.
