Co-Sponsor the Social Security "Bernie Bump" Bill and Say So Publicly

To: Sen. Blackburn, Sen. Hagerty, Rep. Kustoff

From: A constituent in Brownsville, TN

September 4

Co-sponsor the Social Security benefit formula bill and go on Fox News to announce it. Millions of near-retirees are already reshuffling their filing plans around this proposal, and they deserve a champion who will move it forward rather than let it stall. The bill raises the first replacement factor in the benefit formula from 90% to 95%, which translates to real money for real people — up to $200 a month for some households, and meaningful gains even for lower earners. It also switches the inflation measure to the R-CPI-E, which weights health care and housing more heavily, and Sanders' office projects 75 years of extended solvency funded by applying payroll taxes to wages above $250,000. The 2026 Trustees report already warns that OASI can only pay 78% of scheduled benefits after 2032. That clock is running. Fox News reaches exactly the older, working-class audience that stands to benefit most from this fix. Co-sponsoring and making the case there sends a clear signal that protecting Social Security isn't a partisan issue — it's a promise worth keeping.
