As I understand it, the new budget bill in the works by Republicans in Congress will take an almost 900 billion dollar axe to Medicare. I’ve heard some Democrats say that this would be, in effect, a back door method for finally killing the Affordable Care Act, and I’m writing you today to encourage you to message it in just that way and to inspire your fellow Democratic Colleagues to do the same in every forum, venue, and outlet possible. I don’t have to tell you how important simple messaging is, and it’s something that Republicans have done much better than Democrats in the age of Trump. It’s much easier for them because they’re not burdened by veracity (most especially the president) but still, we can break through the noise.
Of course I also encourage you to vote no. This bill is a huge blow to the least among us to give more to those that already have so much. Something tells me you’re a hard “no” vote even without my prompting.
