I am writing as a concerned constituent to express my strong opposition to H.R. 1526, the No Rogue Rulings Act, which recently passed the House of Representatives. This legislation seeks to limit federal district courts’ ability to issue nationwide injunctions, thereby restricting judicial oversight of executive actions.
The power of judicial review is a cornerstone of our constitutional democracy. By curtailing the courts’ capacity to provide comprehensive relief, this bill undermines the system of checks and balances designed to prevent any one branch of government from exceeding its authority.
Limiting nationwide injunctions could allow unconstitutional or unlawful executive actions to proceed unchecked, affecting individuals beyond the immediate parties to a case. Such a shift not only threatens the rule of law but also sets a dangerous precedent that could erode public trust in our legal system.
I urge you to:
• Vote against H.R. 1526 and any similar legislation that seeks to weaken judicial oversight.
• Publicly affirm your commitment to upholding the Constitution and the independence of the judiciary.
Our democracy relies on a robust and independent judiciary to safeguard the rights and liberties of all citizens. I respectfully ask you to stand against efforts that would diminish this vital institution.
