President Trump ordered strikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities without Congressional approval. As I mentioned in my email yesterday, he should now be impeached, convicted, and removed from office.
Trump said the strikes were successful. There's no way of actually knowing how successful they were yet. The International Atomic Energy Agency says there has been no increase in radiation levels at the three sites. It’s likely Iran did what any intelligent country would do. They moved their uranium before the strikes, and probably to multiple, hard to find locations. State TV in Iran said the program “didn't suffer a major blow because the materials had already been taken out.” It appears Trump didn’t see that coming, or didn’t want to be accused of chickening out again. Either way, it looks like the strikes are utter failures. He should be removed from office.
Iran will respond. Iran has non-state actors scattered across the Middle East that might engage in an operation on Iran's behalf. This puts roughly 40,000 U.S. service members in the region on high alert. Sleeper cells in the U.S., if there are any, might respond with a 9/11 style attack. Trump has put us in harm's way. He should be removed from office.
There's also the question of what happens with Iran's nuclear program now. These attacks might convince them — more than anything else — that they need nuclear weapons for defense. If the government becomes destabilized because of the war, it might lead to enriched uranium ending up unsecured. The long-term results of these strikes aren't known yet, of course, but there's a high probability that America is less safe today than it was yesterday. He should be removed from office.
These strikes follow Trump's failure to renegotiate the Iran deal obtained by President Obama that Trump walked away from in his first term. To quote him from November 10th 2013, “I predicted a long time ago that President Obama will attack Iran because of his inability to negotiate properly. Not skilled.”
Remove him from office.
