Vote No on the FY2027 Budget and Reject War Spending

To: Sen. Hagerty, Rep. Kustoff, Sen. Blackburn

From: A constituent in Brownsville, TN

April 29

Vote no on the FY2027 budget request. This $1.5 trillion defense spending proposal is reckless, and the additional $200 billion for the Iran war makes it worse. We don't need record military budgets while families struggle to afford healthcare and childcare. The priorities are backwards. Instead of cutting $73 billion from programs that help Americans, we should be investing in national healthcare and universal daycare. These aren't luxuries—they're necessities that would strengthen our economy and give working families real security. Right now, parents are choosing between paying rent and affording childcare, and medical bills are the leading cause of bankruptcy. The White House wants to slash agriculture spending by 19%, gut the Department of Education, and cancel $15 billion in clean energy grants. Meanwhile, Defense Secretary Hegseth says even $200 billion might not be enough for this war. That's unacceptable. Americans need healthcare they can afford and childcare that doesn't cost more than college tuition. Reject this budget and fight for one that invests in people, not endless war. Use reconciliation to pass healthcare and daycare funding if that's what it takes.
