No Democratic Member of Congress should criticize President Biden for pardoning his son Hunter Biden. The prosecution of Hunter Biden was politically motivated and driven by Trump's allies in an attempt to attack the President. It represented a miscarriage of justice as Hunter endured an unprecedented five-year investigation by the Justice Department, only for the Trump-appointed prosecutor to initially agree to a non-prosecution deal that was later reneged on after pressure from Republicans. The charges brought, including for briefly possessing an unloaded firearm that was disposed of by someone else, were an egregious overreach not seen in similar cases in that district. Hunter was also charged for tax issues despite fully paying what he owed years prior, while others resolved comparable cases through civil penalties. The pardon rectified this injustice stemming from the abusive and partisan prosecution of the President's family member.
