Israel’s War Crimes are Indisputable - End Military Aid Now

To: Sen. Bennet, Sen. Hickenlooper, Pres. Biden, Rep. Crow

October 9

I write to you today in outrage and deep sorrow, prompted by the recent Al Jazeera documentary exposing Israel’s war crimes during the ongoing genocidal assault on Gaza. This documentary, featured on Democracy Now, details the deliberate targeting of civilian areas, the widespread use of banned weaponry, and the systematic destruction of vital infrastructure, including hospitals, schools, and shelters. The evidence is irrefutable: these actions are not accidents of war but calculated measures that amount to war crimes under international law. As the documentary reveals, Israeli forces have committed these atrocities with impunity, fully aware that their actions constitute violations of human rights and the Geneva Conventions. They have consistently targeted medical facilities, ambulances, and even children. There are scenes of bodies burned beyond recognition, further confirming the use of incendiary weapons. Entire families have been wiped out, with no safe place left for civilians to shelter. This deliberate targeting of civilian life is an attempt to terrorize an entire population into submission, a tactic that the world cannot ignore any longer. Yet, our government continues to send billions of dollars in military aid to Israel. This support, funded by U.S. taxpayers, makes us complicit in these war crimes. Every bomb dropped, every family killed, is done with weapons that our country provides. This is a moral failure of the highest order, and it is past time for the United States to stop enabling the mass murder of Palestinians. I urge you to immediately act to halt all military aid to Israel. Furthermore, I demand that you call for an international investigation into these crimes, ensuring that those responsible are held accountable in international courts. Failing to do so only deepens the U.S. role in this crisis and signals to the world that our government supports genocide, apartheid, and war crimes. This is not just a matter of foreign policy; it is a question of who we are as a nation. Do we stand for human rights, or do we stand with those who obliterate them? The choice is clear. Support for Israel’s actions is not in the interest of your constituents, the country, or the world. Continuing down this path of complicity will stain the reputation of the United States for generations. I will not support any candidate or official who allows this carnage to continue. It is time to be on the right side of history. End military support for Israel now. (https://www.democracynow.org/2024/10/9/aj_documentary_gaza_war_crimes)
