Investigate sexual abuse by Israeli soldiers

To: Sen. Schumer, Sen. Gillibrand, Rep. Garbarino

From: A constituent in Brightwaters, NY

May 16

I’m shocked to read the story in the New York Times that the Israeli government is allowing the sexual abuse of Palestinian detainees. This is an awful atrocity and I am appalled that the US state department knew of these reports in 2021 and did nothing. Former State Department employee Josh Paul resigned during the Biden administration because of the coverup. I urge you to investigate these reports by multiple journalists and NGOs and victims, and to support sanctions and prosecution against anyone found to have committed these acts. I also urge you to support a resolution calling for Israel to allow the Red Cross into Israeli prisons and inspect them for human rights abuses, as Israel has denied them access. The US is allowing our tax dollars to fund these Israeli military activities and Israel’s misbehavior and war crimes are only harming US interests in the Middle East and making our country look bad. Thank you
