According to reports, Exum shot Martinez five times following a car accident and then bragged about his accuracy in text messages. This is not law enforcement. Congress has the constitutional authority and responsibility to investigate executive overreach and abuse of power. The shooting of Marimar Martinez is not an isolated incident but part of a pattern of aggressive enforcement that has crossed the line from immigration control into violations of Americans' rights. When federal agents can shoot citizens and face no immediate consequences, when they operate without clear identification or accountability, our system of checks and balances has failed. I urge you to take the following actions: support legislation demanding the prosecution of Charles Exum, initiate or support congressional investigations into ICE operations that have harmed American citizens, and use your oversight authority to ensure that no federal agency operates above the law. Your constituents deserve protection from government overreach, and Marimar Martinez deserves justice.
