The firing officer was not positioned in front of the vehicle and was not in danger of being run over. This raises fundamental questions about the rule of law. ICE had no jurisdiction over this woman because she was a U.S. citizen. The local Minneapolis police have not arrested the shooter. No charges have been filed. The officer's identity has not been publicly released. This appears to be an extrajudicial killing with no accountability. Congress has oversight authority over federal law enforcement agencies. I am asking you to use that authority now. Initiate an immediate investigation into this shooting. Demand that the Department of Homeland Security provide all video footage, officer identities, and operational protocols that led to this woman's death. Subpoena testimony from the agents involved and their supervisors. Determine why lethal force was used against a U.S. citizen attempting to drive away from a scene. The current administration's immigration enforcement tactics have crossed a line from aggressive to lawless. This woman is dead because a federal agent shot her in the head while she tried to leave.
