It is imperative that the minimum wage in Maine be raised to a truly livable amount. $14-15 an hour is simply inadequate when rents range from $1500 to $3000 per month, and homes cost over $150,000. The consumer index reports do not accurately reflect the harsh reality many of us face; we are being priced out of basic housing. It's time for lawmakers to take a stand and address this pressing issue.
