An Open Letter

To: Rep. Moolenaar, Sen. Peters, Sen. Slotkin

From: A constituent in Rockford, MI

August 12

Stop the War with Iran: Prioritize Fiscal Responsibility I am writing as a voting constituent urging you to firmly oppose military action against Iran and vote down any measure authorizing or funding conflict in the region. Engaging in an unsanctioned war endangers American service members, destabilizes international security, and places an unacceptable burden on our nation's financial future. Our national debt is already at record levels, yet foreign interventions consistently drag our country deeper into deficit spending. Trillions of dollars have been spent on past overseas conflicts—funds borrowed against the future of American taxpayers that could have been invested in our infrastructure, healthcare, and economic resilience at home. We cannot afford another open-ended, multi-trillion-dollar commitment funded through endless national debt. Congress possesses the sole constitutional authority to declare war and oversee the federal budget. Exercise this responsibility by refusing to approve funding for military escalation and demanding a strategy centered on diplomacy and fiscal accountability. Please stand up for the long-term strength and financial stability of our nation by saying no to war with Iran.
