Oppose LB 730

To: Sen. Kauth

From: A constituent in Omaha, NE

January 21

I am writing as a Nebraska resident to strongly oppose LB 730. This bill would require state agencies and public institutions to rigidly define sex and restrict access to public spaces based on that definition. In practice, this policy targets transgender and gender nonconforming Nebraskans and makes their daily lives more difficult and less safe. LB 730 does not solve a real problem. Instead, it creates harm by singling out a vulnerable group, increasing the risk of discrimination, harassment, and exclusion in schools, colleges, and public facilities. Policies like this force people to navigate public life under fear and scrutiny simply for existing. Government should be focused on protecting people’s safety, dignity, and freedom to live their lives without interference. LB 730 does the opposite. It expands government control into personal matters and undermines the values of privacy and equal treatment under the law. I urge you to oppose LB 730 and focus on policies that support all Nebraskans rather than targeting specific communities.
