Revoking trans people’s IDs: a repeat of 1930s Nazi Germany

To: Sen. Schmitt, Rep. Burlison, Sen. Hawley

From: A constituent in Springfield, MO

February 26

In 1933 Germany, transgender people had their IDs revoked. In 1938 Germany, Jewish people had their IDs revoked. Both groups then had IDs issued marking them as being trans or being Jewish—and both groups were murdered en masse in the Holocaust. The state of Kansas is now officially following a Nazi playbook. Trans people have always existed and will always exist. How would you like to be remembered by history? Do you want to be remembered as a Nazi? Do you want to be remembered as someone who partook in genocide? I strongly urge you, as a constituent, to condemn the actions of the state of Kansas and prevent such an atrocity from happening in our state. I do not want to live in Nazi America. I hope the same is true for you.
