Protect the Constitution & Enforce Immediate Removal for Executive Overreach
To: Sen. Peters, Sen. Slotkin, Rep. Bergman
From: A constituent in Beulah, MI
May 5
To my U.S. Senators and Representative: I am writing to demand immediate, proactive legislative action to safeguard our democracy against executive overreach, term-limit violations, and systemic corruption. We require explicit statutory triggers that protect our democracy when a President attempts to undermine the peaceful transfer of power. I. The Constitutional Absolute: The 22nd Amendment The 22nd Amendment of the U.S. Constitution is absolute: "No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice." Any attempt, rhetorical or physical, by a sitting President to seek, maintain, or extend control into a third term is an explicit violation of their Oath of Office. There is no legal mechanism, emergency status, or executive order that can bypass this limit. II. The Trigger: Immediate Removal of the Cabinet Any attempt by an executive administration to set a new precedent, delay elections, or bypass the 22nd Amendment must carry swift, automatic consequences. We demand legislation establishing that if a President attempts to illegally extend their term: • The entire Cabinet is immediately stripped of executive authority to prevent them from acting as enablers of an unconstitutional regime. • Power must instantly transition to the next eligible, constitutional successor who is not complicit. III. The Impeachment Caveat & Whistleblower Protection Given the historical weight of multiple impeachment proceedings against a single executive, we cannot rely solely on slow-moving congressional trials during a crisis. We demand a legal caveat: • In any administration with a history of multiple impeachment proceedings, absolute, ironclad whistleblower protections must automatically apply to all civil servants, military personnel, and intelligence officers who report attempts to subvert elections or the Constitution. • These whistleblowers must be legally protected from executive retaliation, enabling them to safely expose internal corruption in real-time. IV. The Right of the Citizens and International Law When a public official actively weaponizes discord, engages in blatant market manipulation, subverts elections, and lies to the public to maintain power, they forfeit their consent to govern. • Under the principles of the Declaration of Independence, it is the right and duty of the citizens to alter or abolish a destructive government. • Furthermore, we call upon the integration of International Human Rights Law standards regarding the right to self-determination and free, fair elections. If domestic systems are corrupted by a tyrant, the citizens have a legally recognized right under international frameworks to actively reject, physically remove, and prosecute politicians who manipulate the state to establish an autocracy. Our constitution must not be treated as a suggestion. I urge you to co-sponsor and introduce legislation that codifies these automatic triggers, protects whistleblowers, and solidifies the 22nd Amendment against any future executive overreach.
