Reject corrupt foreign gift, uphold ethics in government

To: Rep. Flood, Sen. Fischer, Sen. Ricketts, Pres. Trump

From: A constituent in Bellevue, NE

May 13

This administration's plans to accept a $400 million luxury jet from the Qatari royal family raise serious ethical concerns and undermine principles of public service. It represents an unprecedented blending of personal enrichment and public office that was previously considered unacceptable. The acceptance of such a lavish gift from a foreign government smacks of outright corruption and bribery. Public servants should be focused on serving the national interest, not enriching themselves through gifts from foreign powers. This brazen disregard for ethics norms is corrosive to democracy and the rule of law. I urge you to forcefully oppose this alarming departure from propriety and use all available means to stop this unethical and likely illegal transaction from proceeding. We must uphold standards of integrity in government.
