I recently learned about the appalling SAVE Act. We already require citizenship for people to vote, and it’s already proven upon voter registration. Restrictions do not need to be added - especially these restrictions. My partner and I are looking to get married and change at least one of our last names, but now we’re afraid to. We’re not passport holders. How would we prove citizenship to vote if we don’t have the same last name we had at birth anymore? So many women change their name upon marriage, and so many of us don’t get a passport because we don’t travel outside the country. Please, save our right to vote. Please, don’t vote for the SAVE Act.
