A Quinnipiac poll now shows 57% of Americans believe our democracy isn't functioning. That number should alarm every elected official in this country. Trump is the reason. He is a liar, a fraud, a criminal defendant turned president, and his time in office has become a monument to national decline. You have a responsibility to say so publicly and act accordingly. John Adams prayed that only "honest and wise" people would ever lead this nation. That standard has been shattered. Trump is consumed by grievance and vanity, and the damage he is doing — cultural, moral, institutional — is visible to our allies and adversaries alike. America looks weaker, angrier, and more divided than it did a decade ago. When crowds in Manhattan spontaneously chant against a sitting president after a basketball game, that is not a political moment. That is exhaustion. That is frustration with corruption that has gone unanswered. History will render its judgment on this era, and it will not be kind to those who stayed quiet. I need you to speak out forcefully against Trump's abuses, support every available accountability measure, and stop treating his conduct as normal. Future generations will ask what we did when the warning signs were everywhere. Make sure you have an answer.
