The Emergency Housing Voucher program provides crucial rental assistance to around 60,000 households across the nation, including those fleeing homelessness or domestic violence situations. However, this vital program is facing a funding crisis and is expected to exhaust its resources by the end of 2026. Allowing this assistance to lapse would represent one of the largest single losses of rental aid in U.S. history, putting thousands at risk of eviction and worsening the housing insecurity crisis. Robust housing support is essential for fostering stability and preventing homelessness. As such, it is imperative that Congress takes action to renew and adequately fund the Emergency Housing Voucher program to maintain this critical safety net for our nation's most vulnerable populations.
