Remove Treasury Secretary Signatures From U.S. Currency

To: Rep. Kelly, Sen. Fetterman, Sen. McCormick

From: A constituent in Butler, PA

March 27

I'm asking you to support legislation that removes Treasury Secretary signatures from all U.S. currency. Our money shouldn't serve as a vanity platform for political appointees, especially those with questionable records. The Treasury Secretary signature on every bill is an unnecessary tradition that adds no security value and serves only to immortalize individuals who may not deserve that honor. When someone is later convicted of crimes or disgraced, their signature remains in circulation for decades. We've already seen Treasury officials caught up in scandals, and there's no reason to keep giving them this privilege. Other countries manage perfectly secure currency without plastering officials' signatures on every note. The signature adds nothing to anti-counterfeiting measures and costs taxpayers money every time leadership changes and new plates must be designed and printed. It's government waste disguised as tradition. End this practice. Our currency should represent the nation, not whoever happens to hold a Cabinet position for a few years.
