Stop the second border wall being bulldozed through Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument right now. Federal contractors are actively clearing protected Sonoran Desert habitat this week, and the administration waived the environmental and cultural protection laws that exist precisely to prevent this kind of damage. A first wall already devastated wildlife migration routes, water access, and cultural sites — documented by the GAO — and now a duplicate wall is compounding that destruction.
Quitobaquito Springs, a sacred site that Indigenous communities have stewarded since time immemorial, is already harder to reach due to road closures tied to this construction. These aren't abstract losses. This is irreversible damage to one of the most extraordinary and irreplaceable landscapes in the country. Public backlash just forced a temporary pause to similar construction at Big Bend National Park in Texas — the same pressure needs to stop this project in Arizona. Use every tool available to halt construction at Organ Pipe and Coronado National Memorial before more of this park is gone.
