Shut down the Dilley Immigration Processing Center and terminate DHS's contract with CoreCivic immediately. This facility is the only family detention center in the country, and what's happening inside it is indefensible. Families who have not been charged with any crime are being imprisoned there, including infants and toddlers.
The conditions are horrific. Detained parents report food contaminated with worms and mold, water that makes people sick, and lights kept on all night. Children are experiencing severe depression and suicidal ideation. A young boy wasn't taken to the hospital until days after severe stomach pain — he had appendicitis and needed surgery. In February and March 2026, children were held an average of 57 days, with 80 children detained for more than 91 days — well beyond the 20-day limit under the Flores Settlement Agreement.
Rep. Castro and over 110 members of Congress have already called for this facility to be shut down. Join them. There is no humane way to imprison a child, and the United States has the legal framework and resources to process these families without detention. End this now.
