Stop political gerrymandering

To: Gov. Lee, Sen. Haile, Rep. Slater

From: A verified voter in Gallatin, TN

May 5

Gerrymandering undermines our democracy. This special session does nothing to fairly represent Tennessee voters. Instead it further chips away at the very base of our democratic process. Allowing political parties to nominate candidates rather than voters selecting in the primaries. Eliminating redistricting until after a census and on top of it all having Tennesseans foot the bill for this is not having your constituents best interests at heart. This is for Republicans political gain only. In the last election Democratic voters made up 40% of the vote. That’s what a fair map looks like. As an independent voter I will be pulling a Democratic ballot today. I will also be voting against any candidate in favor of this effort in the elections.
