An Open Letter

To: Sen. Blackburn, Sen. Hagerty

From: A verified voter in Memphis, TN

April 11

This bill, the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, aims to impose strict documentary proof of U.S. citizenship requirements for voter registration in federal elections. However, such requirements risk disenfranchising eligible voters who may not have ready access to these documents, disproportionately impacting marginalized communities. Voting is a fundamental right, and measures that create barriers to exercising this right should be firmly opposed. We need to expand access to voting, not restrict it. I urge you to vote against this bill which threatens to suppress voter participation and undermine our democracy.
