The DOJ must be stopped from seizing private medical records of transgender minors from NYU Langone and Mount Sinai. Federal subpoenas with a June 10 deadline are demanding the identities and detailed health information of every trans person who received gender-affirming care as a minor, along with their parents' identities. This is a mass seizure of some of the most sensitive medical data imaginable, targeting children and families who did nothing wrong.
No federal law prohibits gender-affirming care for minors. The Supreme Court has said this is a matter for states to regulate. The DOJ isn't enforcing the law here — it's weaponizing federal investigations to pressure hospitals into abandoning their patients. As the ACLU's Elizabeth Gill put it, these subpoenas are "a baseless intrusion into the doctor-patient relationship." Medical privacy is a human right, and a government that can seize your child's health records to punish a political identity is a government with no limits. I need you to publicly oppose these subpoenas and use every tool available to protect these families.
