Support the Thirty-Two Hour Work Week Act

To: Rep. Casar, Sen. Cornyn, Sen. Cruz

From: A constituent in Manor, TX

September 12

Vote yes on the Thirty-Two Hour Work Week Act. American workers are over 400% more productive than they were in the 1940s, and yet the standard workweek hasn't budged since the Fair Labor Standards Act was written in 1940. The economy has been transformed beyond recognition. Our labor laws haven't. That needs to change now. The gains from automation and AI are real — they're just going entirely to corporate CEOs and wealthy shareholders while workers show up exhausted, can't retire, and are falling further behind on wages that haven't kept pace with inflation in decades. Three families in this country hold as much wealth as the bottom 50% of Americans. A 32-hour workweek with no loss in pay is the bare minimum correction to that imbalance. France, Norway, and Denmark have moved in this direction. Pilot programs consistently show higher productivity and worker satisfaction. The arguments against this bill amount to protecting the status quo for people who are already winning. Please support this legislation and any similar measures that put working people first.
