Reject dangerous proposal to repeal presidential term limits

To: Rep. Tonko, Sen. Schumer, Sen. Gillibrand

From: A verified voter in Waterford, NY

January 24

This proposed constitutional amendment to allow presidents to serve more than two terms is a dangerous threat to our democracy and system of checks and balances. Removing term limits would concentrate excessive power in the hands of a single individual, eroding accountability and opening the door to authoritarian rule. The 22nd Amendment exists for a reason - to prevent any president from entrenching themselves and their political party in permanent control of the executive branch. We must vigorously oppose any efforts to repeal or undermine this crucial safeguard against the monopolization of power. Preserving presidential term limits is vital to upholding our democratic principles and preventing a slide into a de facto elected monarchy. I urge you to reject this misguided proposal and defend the integrity of our constitutional republic.
