ICE's illegal data tracking

To: Gov. Polis, Sen. Kipp, Rep. Boesenecker

From: A verified voter in Fort Collins, CO

October 1, 2025

Immigration and Customs Enforcement is illegally tracking millions of phones around the country, with billions of points of data. ICE is planning to once again use location data remotely harvested from peoples’ smartphones after previously saying it had stopped the practice. In October 2023, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Inspector General published a report that found ICE, CBP, and the Secret Service all broke the law when using location data harvested from phones. ICE needs to be held accountable for their illegal harvesting of information data and abolished.
