As your constituent, I am very concerned about the lack of oversight on the Artificial Intelligence sector. Just in the past few months, we’ve seen an OpenAI model reportedly compromise rival AI systems for weeks without detection, children exposed to explicit content through AI chatbots, folks lose their jobs and replaced with AI, communities left to absorb the environmental toll of AI data centers with no say in the matter. Even employees at these companies, and Anthropic’s own CEO, have said the industry cannot be trusted to police itself. Please, urge leadership to call an emergency session to form a regulatory framework for guardrails on AI to keep us safe.
