The United States is now actively involved in war crimes in Iran. The targeting of civilian infrastructure is illegal and immoral. Congress must actively engage in oversight. The undeclared war currently being pursued by the president is illegal on its face, but when our soldiers are tasked with targeting civilian infrastructure they are put in an untenable situation. The military leadership making these decisions must be brought before Congress to justify their illegal action and explain how they will guarantee further war crimes are avoided. Congress must reassert its power of war making as codified in our constitution. The president and his administration must be held accountable for their recklessness.
