Investigate Honeypot Operations Targeting Federal Workers for Political Purges

To: Sen. Slotkin, Sen. Peters, Rep. Huizenga

July 21

Federal workers are being targeted through dating apps by paid operatives who record private conversations, twist the content, and publish smear pieces to get them fired. James O'Keefe and Project Veritas have been sued multiple times by federal workers for exactly this — using fabricated or manipulated date recordings to purge employees whose politics don't align with the current administration. NPR investigators confirmed the explicit goal is to remove people "pumping the brakes on Trump's policies." This is not accountability. It is a coordinated political purge. More details are documented here: https://ossiana.substack.com/p/the-right-wing-is-now-using-honeypots A person's private opinions, expressed on a first date, are not grounds for termination. The First Amendment protects private speech, and no administration has the authority to fire workers for political beliefs held outside the workplace. Employment cannot be contingent on supporting the Trump regime. Investigate these honeypot operations, introduce legislation protecting federal and state employees from politically motivated terminations based on manipulated private recordings, and ensure workers targeted by these schemes have clear legal recourse.
