Do not confirm Casey Means for Surgeon General

To: Sen. Slotkin, Rep. Stevens, Sen. Peters

From: A constituent in White Lake, MI

February 24

I'm writing as a constituent to voice my strong opposition to the nomination of Casey Means to serve as U.S. Surgeon General. Means is a "health influencer" without discernible qualifications to be Surgeon General and who seems to make most of her living peddling unproven products and tests sold by companies led by herself and her brother, Calley Means. She dropped out of her surgical residency, is not board certified in any specialty, does not hold a license to practice medicine and has no public health background whatsoever. She promotes anti-vaccine propaganda, raw milk consumption and dangerous deregulation of food safety while promoting scientifically unsupported disease remedies. The U.S. Surgeon General is the leading U.S. government voice on public health issues and is often referred to as the "Nation's Doctor." The person serving in this role must be someone Americans can trust to give credible advice based on solid science and real data, not a charlatan who specializes in selling expensive, unproven tests and treatments. Please vote "NO" on this nomination. The Senate needs to stand up and demand a surgeon general who respects science and cares about facts. Thank you for your consideration.
