Condemn Trump’s Insulting White House Plaques, Continued Rhetoric
To: Sen. Cruz, Sen. Cornyn, Rep. Casar

President Trump has installed plaques beneath portraits of former presidents at the White House to mock and insult his predecessors. One plaque calls Joe Biden “the worst President in American History.” Another attacks Barack Obama. This is not political commentary. It is vandalism of our nation’s history and a deliberate degradation of the office he holds.
I ask you to publicly condemn this behavior. The presidency demands respect for those who came before, regardless of party. George W. Bush honored Bill Clinton. Barack Obama honored George W. Bush. This is not about politics. It is about preserving the dignity of an institution that belongs to all Americans. Trump’s petty attacks on past presidents dishonor the office and set a dangerous precedent for future administrations. If a Democratic president installed similar plaques mocking Ronald Reagan or George H.W. Bush, Republicans would be outraged, and they would be right to be.
Your silence condones this conduct. I urge you to issue a statement demanding the removal of these plaques and calling on President Trump to show the basic respect the office requires. Americans deserve a president who understands that leadership is not about settling scores. It is about serving the country with dignity. Speak up, or history will remember your complicity.
