Tennessee Constituent Request: Protect Citizens and Uphold the Constitution
To: Sen. Hagerty, Sen. Blackburn
From: A verified voter in Memphis, TN
January 27
Dear Senators Blackburn and Hagerty,
I am writing to you as a deeply concerned citizen of Tennessee who values law, order, and the principles enshrined in the U.S. Constitution. Recent reports involving actions by ICE and Border Patrol agents resulting in the deaths of American citizens have raised serious questions about the limits of federal authority and the proper enforcement of justice. As Tennesseans and as Americans, we should not have to fear harm from our own government agencies.
I strongly support our law enforcement officers and the vital role they play in maintaining public safety and protecting our nation’s borders. However, justice and accountability must apply equally to all who serve under the law. When agencies overstep or act without oversight, it undermines public trust and the very foundations of our republic. Law enforcement must be held to the highest standards of integrity to preserve confidence in the system they represent.
I also want to reaffirm my support for the constitutional right to bear arms — a right rooted in the principle that citizens have not only the freedom but also the responsibility to protect themselves and their communities. Upholding this right is essential to ensuring the balance of power between individuals and government authority remains intact.
I urge you to take action in the Senate to strengthen oversight of federal agencies and reaffirm Congress’s commitment to defending citizens’ rights while ensuring accountability among those who enforce the law. The American people depend on your leadership to uphold the Constitution and ensure that justice truly applies to all.
