Demand the immediate release of the FISA Court's March 17 ruling on Section 702 surveillance. The legal deadline to publish it was September 13. That deadline has passed, Attorney General Blanche promised in writing that it would be met, and the administration still has not complied.
The ruling matters because it found that government analysts were reading Americans' private messages without warrants, without required approvals, and without keeping records. The FISA Court ordered the tools used to pull those communications to be rebuilt. The Brennan Center for Justice says the abuses the DOJ claimed were fixed as far back as early 2025 were still ongoing across the entire intelligence community, not just the FBI. FBI Director Kash Patel shut down the Office of Internal Auditing last May, and the government's own privacy watchdog says the searches in question are "not possible to track."
Now this same administration is asking Congress to renew Section 702 while keeping the evidence of its abuses locked away. As Senators Wyden and Schiff wrote, "a government that so flagrantly violates basic legal requirements... can [never] be trusted to not abuse a powerful surveillance tool like Section 702." Publish the ruling now, and do not vote to reauthorize Section 702 without a warrant requirement.
