Defend the EPA’s asbestos ban

To: Sen. Slotkin, Sen. Peters

From: A verified voter in Marquette, MI

June 27, 2025

Thank you for your continued leadership on public health. I urge you to stand firm in support of the EPA’s 2024 ban on chrysotile asbestos and to oppose any attempts to weaken it. This rule is a long-overdue victory for science and safety. Asbestos remains a known carcinogen, and its continued use in any form puts workers, families, and communities in danger. The EPA’s ban closes dangerous loopholes and finally aligns our policy with what medical experts have urged for decades. Industry efforts to block this rule are driven by profit, not public interest. Safer alternatives exist. Other nations have acted. The United States should not lag behind when American lives are at stake. Please continue to defend the EPA’s authority and push back against any rollback of these protections.
