Enforce the Injunction Blocking USPS Mail Voting Rule

To: Pres. Trump, Sen. Murray, Rep. DelBene, Sen. Cantwell

From: A verified voter in Bothell, WA

August 23

The Trump administration just defied a federal court order, and I need you to speak out and act. The U.S. Postal Service published a final rule on August 23rd to restrict mail-in voting — in direct violation of an injunction issued by U.S. District Court Judge Indira Talwani on August 11th. That injunction explicitly prohibited the USPS from completing any rulemaking tied to Trump's executive order targeting mail voting. They did it anyway. The League of Women Voters of Massachusetts and other civil rights organizations have filed an emergency motion asking the court to enforce its injunction and declare the rule has no force or effect before November's midterms. The USPS backdated the rule to August 21st specifically to get it in place for the November 3, 2026 election — then claimed the rulemaking wasn't for that election. That's not a legal gray area. That's contempt. This isn't just a procedural dispute. Last-minute changes to mail voting rules will create chaos for voters and election officials, and that chaos is the point. I want you to publicly support enforcement of Judge Talwani's injunction and use every tool available to hold the postal service accountable for this unlawful action.
