Expand Medicaid to save hospitals

To: Gov. Kemp, Sen. Mangham, Rep. Bennett

From: A verified voter in Snellville, GA

March 26

Expand Medicaid without work requirements. As EMTALA is a law, emergency rooms must treat all patients seeking care. However they don’t present until sicker when the cost of care can skyrocket. Money spent earlier on preventative care would decrease costs. As a nonfunded mandate, EMTALA puts a burden on already overtaxed hospitals. By expanding Medicaid, we could pay these safety net hospitals and keep them solvent. Expand Medicaid. As a physician, I know how important it is.
