An Open Letter

To: Sen. Cruz, Rep. Hunt, Sen. Cornyn

From: A constituent in Tomball, TX

February 12

Vote AGAINST the Fair Access to Banking Act. We Americans have told our banks that we expect ethical investment of our money that respects our values, such as freedom, dignity and justice for all. S401 and HR987 would force us to invest in for-profit prisons and concentration camps. Human rights groups, civil rights attorneys, health inspectors and legislators have found horrific violations at CoreCivic and GEO Group facilities including abuse, overcrowding, filthy conditions, lack of sanitation and health care, lack of education for children and unclean food lacking in nutrition. These conditions are outrageous. Our banking institutions have rightly declined to fund them. Private for-profit prisons bringing in multi billions in profits have no business lobbying you for favorable treatment from our government. Texans are paying attention to crooked representatives on the dole from corporations. Vote AGAINST S401 and HR987.
