The proposed cuts to the Department of Health and Human Services budget are deeply concerning and misguided. Slashing $40 billion from essential health agencies will have devastating impacts on public health programs that millions of Americans rely on. Eliminating support for rural hospitals, autism research, teen pregnancy prevention, lead poisoning initiatives, and opioid recovery efforts is shortsighted and will lead to poorer health outcomes across the country. We cannot afford to gut the very agencies working to tackle our most pressing public health challenges. These proposed cuts threaten to undermine years of progress and leave vulnerable communities without vital resources. Instead of dismantling effective programs, we should be investing more in public health to improve lives and drive medical innovation. I urge you to reject these draconian budget cuts and fight to maintain robust funding for HHS. Protecting the health and wellbeing of all Americans should be a top priority. Slashing the HHS budget is both reckless and harmful. Please stand up for public health by ensuring these agencies have the resources they need to carry out their critical work.
