Protect Civil Liberties—Investigate DOGE Data Consolidation

To: Rep. Neal, Sen. Warren, Sen. Markey

From: A constituent in Westfield, MA

April 19

I am writing to express serious concern over the reported actions of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), as detailed in Wired. The merger of data from the Department of Homeland Security, the Social Security Administration, and the IRS—along with the inclusion of sensitive biometric information—poses a direct threat to the civil liberties of every person in this country. This initiative has no historical precedent in scope, and experts have rightly warned it could evolve into a surveillance apparatus of dangerous and unconstitutional scale. As a constituent who values privacy, due process, and transparency, I urge you to act immediately. Congress must investigate this initiative, demand accountability and transparency, and, if necessary, pass legislation to halt or strictly limit data consolidation of this nature. The American people should not be monitored or tracked by their own government without explicit legal safeguards and public oversight. Please do not let this moment pass unchecked. Protect our rights. Protect our privacy. Protect democracy.
