English should not be designated as the ONLY official language since it was the language of the colonizers. Spanish and many indigenous languages of our Native American relatives have been part of the US long before English was dominant. Equally Hawaii, Alaska, Guam & Puerto Rico are part of the United States and they are not English dominant. It is critical to our country to uphold all languages as equal so our citizens who speak languages other than English can continue to access services, media and news in their dominant language. We must uphold and respect the original inhabitants of this great country by NOT claiming English as the official language, which will result in further marginalization and discrimination. We MUST uphold the constitution of free speech & access to our mother tongue and not discriminate based on race, language, or creed, which are the foundations of democracy.
