Support Articles of Impeachment Against President Trump

To: Sen. Moody, Rep. Rayner, Sen. Scott, Gov. DeSantis, Sen. Rouson, Pres. Trump, Rep. Castor

From: A constituent in Saint Petersburg, FL

January 8

I am writing to urge you to support articles of impeachment against President Trump for his systematic violations of constitutional limits on executive power. The pattern of overreach has reached a point where congressional action is necessary to preserve our democratic system of checks and balances. Trump has repeatedly defied the separation of powers that forms the foundation of our government. He has overridden congressional authority on spending and policy matters that the Constitution explicitly reserves for the legislative branch. He has defied federal court orders, undermining the judicial branch's role as a check on executive power. These are not partisan disagreements about policy but fundamental violations of constitutional structure. The misuse of emergency powers to circumvent congressional appropriations sets a dangerous precedent. When a president can declare emergencies to access funds that Congress has refused to authorize, the power of the purse becomes meaningless. This erodes a core constitutional protection against executive overreach. I am also deeply concerned about the deployment of military forces in American cities, the weaponization of the Department of Justice against political opponents, and attacks on freedom of speech and dissent. These actions mirror the tactics of authoritarian leaders who consolidate power by intimidating critics and politicizing law enforcement. Additionally, Trump has personally profited from the presidency in ways that violate the emoluments clauses, and he has threatened state election authority, striking at the heart of our democratic process. I recognize that impeachment is a serious step, but the accumulation of constitutional violations demands a congressional response. I ask that you support articles of impeachment and commit to investigating and holding accountable any officials who have participated in illegal actions. Our system of government depends on Congress exercising its oversight authority when a president exceeds constitutional bounds.
