Protect the 4th Amendment: Oppose Warrantless FISA Searches

To: Sen. Peters, Sen. Slotkin

From: A constituent in Beulah, MI

May 1

I am a constituent writing to demand that you oppose any long-term reauthorization of FISA Section 702 that does not include a mandatory warrant requirement for searches of Americans' data. The 'Reforming Intelligence and Securing America Act' (RISAA) passed in 2024 has failed to stop abuses. Recent March 2026 FISA Court findings reveal that the FBI and other agencies continue to use 'filtering tools' to bypass oversight and query the private communications of U.S. citizens without a warrant. As we approach the June 2026 deadline, a 'clean' 3-year extension is unacceptable. It is a direct violation of the Fourth Amendment to allow the government to 'incidentally' collect and then intentionally search the data of Americans without judicial review. I am asking you to: 1 Support the Warrant Requirement Amendment in the Senate. 2 Vote NO on any final bill that allows warrantless 'backdoor' searches of U.S. persons. 3 Demand the immediate declassification of the 2026 FISC opinion regarding ongoing compliance failures. Our privacy is not a bargaining chip. I will be monitoring your vote on this issue closely."
