FY27: remove Sec 441 to SAVE the BOUNDARY WATERS. Also: Forbid Trump's Arch

To: Sen. King, Rep. Golden, Sen. Collins

From: A verified voter in Lewiston, ME

June 7

I am outraged by the current FY2027 budget. It reeks of cruelty, immorality and enabling a dictator to pay his private army. I ask you to REMOVE sec. 441 -- removing this will protect the Boundary Waters from the forever-pollution of copper sulphide mining for foreign profit. (Remember, annual revenue from Boundary Waters tourism is greater than the projected mining profits. ) I also ask you to support Rep Chellie Pingree's Amendment to FY27 Interior + Environment spending bill-- it is a provision to ensure that there is: NO TRIUMPHAL ARCH FOR TRUMP. Pingree notes that "a majority of Americans oppose [the arch]. Veterans groups oppose it. It's a huge waste of taxpayer dollars—at a time when millions are struggling." I hope I can count on you to prune out other vanity projects and harmful interventions on national monuments.
